Japan Market Entry

Japan Market Entry
Marketing

Turn a product that sells overseas into one people actually use in Japan. Translation alone doesn't move Japanese consumers. We reframe how your product is used for the Japanese context, then run everything from official social accounts, POV video, influencers and PR to in-store and on-site activation, as your Japan-side marketing team, end to end.

The first social media marketing agency in Japan to become an official creative partner of Insta360

Official Creative Partner

Partnering with Insta360 — the world's No.1 360-degree camera brand — to open up the Japanese market together

In April 2026 we jointly launched "Insta360 POV", a first-person video project. From running the official POV account to creator campaigns and in-store and on-site activation, we keep building the way an overseas brand gets used in Japan.

Why

Three reasons products that sell overseas stall in Japan

People use it differently

What's standard abroad isn't standard in Japan

Take first-person (POV) filming: everyday overseas, still rare in Japan. The way your product is used has to be redesigned around Japanese habits and moods, not just described in Japanese.

No hands on the ground in Japan

A small Japan office is already stretched thin

Sales, support and events fill the day, leaving no team to plan, shoot, edit, post and work with creators. The assets exist, but nothing goes out. It's the most common way a Japan expansion stalls.

Discovery works differently

In Japan, short-form video and hands-on experience drive purchases

Japanese consumers discover products through short-form video, creators, and hands-on moments in stores and at events. Ad and review formats that worked in English-speaking markets scroll past before they land.

Localization, not translation. We build the context that lets Japanese consumers see your product as their own, on social media and on the ground.

Case

Our work with Insta360: opening up the Japanese market for POV, together

In April 2026 we launched "Insta360 POV" with Insta360, the world's No.1 360-degree camera brand: a video project that delivers the reality of a moment from the first-person view of the person living it. We handle communication for the Japanese market end to end, from co-issuing the press release and launching and running the official POV account to influencer campaigns and activation at the flagship store and partner venues.

POV is already a standard way to shoot overseas. Translating it into something that reaches Japanese consumers is what we are doing with Insta360.

  1. Joint project "Insta360 POV" launched

We co-wrote and distributed the Japanese press release. Coverage on outlets such as ASCII.jp started building the association "POV = Insta360" in the Japanese market.

  2. Official POV account launched and managed

We launched the Instagram account "insta360jp_pov" and handle planning, shooting, editing and posting, sharing artisans' handwork and experiential content from a first-person view.

  3. Influencer PR posts

Our in-house influencers and partner creators show how the product fits into travel and days out in Japan. Posts that perform are repurposed as ads.

  4. POV content for the flagship store opening

For the opening of the Asakusa flagship store, we produced staff-POV videos from the preparations to behind the scenes on the day, conveying the store's atmosphere and giving people a reason to visit.

  5. Insta360 shoots proposed to the accounts we manage

We propose and roll out Insta360 POV shoots across the hotel, restaurant, salon and sports accounts we manage, including behind-the-scenes cuts where the camera appears on screen, building up how the product is used in Japan across industries.

  6. Hands-on demos at trade shows and events

At trade shows where TripClear exhibits, visitors try POV filming with Insta360 cameras themselves. The demos have become a starting point for B2B inquiries.

Process

From the first briefing to launch, we take care of all the preparation on the Japan side

Workflow

All you need to provide is the product and the information from headquarters

Phase01

Briefing & market research
  • Current status & goals
  • Competitor & creator research
  • Use-case research

We brief directly with your HQ marketing team, in Japanese or English.

After confirming what works overseas, your sales status in Japan, and the assets and guidelines we can use, we research Japanese competitors, use cases and influential creators to surface the gaps between your home market and Japan.

Phase02

Localization strategy & KPI design
  • Messaging design
  • Channel selection
  • KPI & reporting design

We decide how the product should be used in Japan, then who sees it, where, and what they see.

Rather than translating features, we build the message around use cases Japanese consumers can see themselves in. This is where we set the roles of the official account, creators, PR and on-site activation, and the KPIs reported back to headquarters.

Phase03

Launch
  • Official account design
  • Press release
  • Casting

We open the official account, issue the Japanese press release and bring creators on board, all at once.

Profile, posting rules and tone are designed for Japan, and PR and casting are timed to launches and new products. The exposure a launch needs is created in one coordinated push.

Phase04

Production & operations
  • POV filming
  • Editing & posting
  • Comment moderation

Our in-house team handles shooting, editing, posting and comment replies every month.

We film from the perspective of someone actually using the product, edit into vertical short-form video and post, including Japanese-language comment handling. When footage only exists at headquarters, we re-edit it for Japan so the feed never stops.

Phase05

Reporting & scale
  • Monthly reports (JA / EN)
  • Roll-out to on-site activation
  • Repurposing as ads

We report the numbers in Japanese and English, and scale what works into on-site activation and ads.

Every month we report views, saves, profile visits and other metrics, along with how Japanese consumers responded. The use cases that resonate are rolled out to in-store and venue activation and paid social.
