Retail & E-commerce

Keep recycling the same still and the cost per acquisition never comes down. We get measurement through to purchase in place, then run the vertical video whose response is already proven.

Products get discovered on social before the ads. Ordinary users decide it, and four in ten walk away without information

69.8%

For discovering a product, number one is short video

The format most likely to introduce people to a product. 64.5% come across products by chance

Excrie, Survey on Purchasing Behaviour on Social and Video Platforms, July 2026 (aged 15-69, n=1,200)

TaTap, Survey on Category Entry Points and Social Media, August 2026 (aged 20-49, n=435)

2.7×

It prompts 2.7 times as much as shelves or TV

Issues

Three things that actually get stuck on social ads in retail and e-commerce

Illustration of a tipped scale with a tall stack of ad-spend coins on one side and a single small shopping bag on the other

01

The cost per acquisition won't come down

If the material stays the same, tuning the delivery settings only gets you so far. Without volume, you can't swap fast enough either.

The fixWe run small budgets across a set split by angle — price, use, comparison, gifting — then move to what works.

02

Nobody counts through to purchase

With no pixel and no Conversions API in place, all that is left is impressions and clicks.

The fixWe get the pixel and CAPI on the purchase completion page, plus GA4 and UTMs, in place first, then deliver.

03

It looks like advertising, so it disappears

The more volume you add, the more it gets avoided as advertising wearing the face of advertising. What should grow is the contact that doesn't look like an ad.

The fixWe run video that took off in organic as Spark Ads or partnership ads.

Process

From measurement set-up to monthly reporting: how it actually runs in retail and e-commerce

Workflow

Delivery design through purchase measurement, reporting and next month's plan, supported end to end

Illustration of structuring the ad account and preparing purchase measurement

Phase01

Account structure and purchase measurement
  • Pixel and Conversions API
  • Product catalogue integration
  • Separating out in-store purchases

Whether advertising works is all but settled in the set-up before delivery.

We start by asking about your lead products, your revenue mix and your target CPA and ROAS. Then we pick platforms and objectives and get purchase completions countable.

Phase02

Getting the creative ready
  • Recutting the posts that took off
  • Several videos per angle
  • Pharmaceutical and advertising law checks

Better to assemble a comparable set than to wait for one perfect video.

Posts whose retention and saves climbed get recut to 10-20 seconds, prepared across separate angles: price, how to use it, comparison, gifting.

Phase03

Small tests, picking the winners
  • Delivered simultaneously in small budgets
  • Judged on early data
  • Only winners go to full delivery

No large budget goes in until the data confirms the response.

Several run at once in small budgets, and we narrow them on CPM, retention, click-through and early purchase numbers.

Phase04

Optimisation and rollout across products
  • Budget reallocation
  • Swapping the hook
  • Extending to the second product and beyond

Budget moves to what works, rotating on a short cycle.

Budget goes to the deliveries that perform, swapped into variants before frequency tops out. The angle that worked carries to the next product.

Illustration of the monthly report and the recommendation for next month

Phase05

Reporting and next month's plan
  • Reported as purchases and CPA
  • Reconciled with ad spend as a share of revenue
  • Next month's creative brief

The report leads with what you spent and how much sold.

Reporting leads with purchases, CPA and ROAS. Leading indicators and ad spend as a share of revenue sit alongside, together with the brief for what to make next month.

FAQ

Questions we are often asked by retailers, e-commerce and consumer goods makers

How is the fee structured?

There are two structures, fully performance-based and management-fee based. Performance-based where the purchase or application completes online; a management fee where sales are mostly in store and no single conversion point works. The terms for each are on the social ads pricing page.

We already have an agency. Can you produce only the video?

Taking production alone is fine. Ad management stays with your existing agency and we hold only the ad creative production and the analysis. All we need is view access to the ad account.

With iOS measurement restrictions, can purchases still be counted?

We layer the counting. Beyond the pixel on the purchase completion page we set the Conversions API up server-side, then reconcile against GA4, UTMs and your order data. In-store purchases are covered with dedicated coupon codes.

If we're on TikTok Shop, will advertising sell for us?

Honestly, being listed isn't enough. It is a storefront where people buy off video and live streams, so what matters is whether you have the volume of video to keep feeding it.

How do you handle claims that can't be advertised under pharmaceutical and advertising law?

We close them off at the script stage, before submission. Not just the caption but the on-screen text, the thumbnail and the destination page. Only claims with evidence behind them survive.

We have no precedent for ad spend and can't get a figure agreed internally.

What we propose is writing the ceiling and the conditions for raising it down first. Because we confirm the response in small budgets before going to full delivery, no budget gets spent on advertising that may not work.
