SNS Account Management for Retail & E-Commerce

Social Media Management for
Retail & E-commerce

Shelf tags and point-of-sale material don't give you the time to explain a product. We run the official accounts for retail chains, makers and e-commerce businesses, from concept through filming, editing, posting and analysis, as one piece of work.

Issues

Four things that actually get stuck when retail and e-commerce run social media

Illustration of near-identical product packs on a retail shelf, one of them lost among the rest

01

It looks like advertising, so it disappears

The more brand checks it goes through, the blander the footage becomes. That look of advertising is exactly why people avoid it.

The fixWe film arrival, use and production from the viewer's point of view, creating contact that doesn't look like an ad.

02

It doesn't connect to where you can buy

Without measurement in place on the product page and TikTok Shop, people who watch the video never get as far as buying.

The fixWe put measurement on the product page and TikTok Shop in place before posting, and track through to referrals.

03

The KPIs don't connect to revenue

Follower count is easy to explain internally, and it is a long way from whether the product sold.

The fixWe replace the KPIs with save rate, time spent and referrals, and report in that order.

04

The job ad never comes down

Gaps in store, logistics at peak, more hands for e-commerce. Listing fees don't come back when nobody applies, and what the till and restocking are really like can't go in the conditions box of a job posting.

The fixWe film material from the worker's point of view, restocking and packing, and use it for hiring.

Managed social media we have run in retail and e-commerce

POV video from Tokyo Tenryu's pudding workshop

Retail & EC / SNS Account

Tokyo Tenryu

Managed vertical video showing the back of a pudding workshop in POV and sending people to the shop link in the profile. One video passed a million views.

1,292 clicks a month on the shop link (5x the previous month)
Over 2m views a month from 4 posts, 2,300 new followers, 1,424 saves

There is no time in front of a shelf to explain where a product came from.
Creating that time before people get there is our job.

Process

From account design to posting and analysis: how it actually runs in retail and e-commerce

Workflow

Account design through filming, posting and analysis, supported throughout

Illustration of the account design phase, setting the KGI, KPIs and each platform's role

Phase01

Account strategy
  • The products to sell and who buys them
  • The split across e-commerce, stores and wholesale
  • KPI tree

It starts with which product, to whom, and bought where.

We ask about your lead products and price brackets, the revenue mix, your current KPIs and the approval and brand check process. Setting each platform's role comes after that.

Illustration of the planning phase: building out storyboards and scripts

Phase02

Concept (script and storyboard)
  • Taking stock of arrival, use and behind the scenes
  • Designing the first three seconds
  • Straight from the proposal into internal approval

Before filming, we build it to a form that will clear approval.

We lay out subjects along three lines — arrival, use and behind the scenes — and get the business unit's approval at the storyboard stage. The wording checks happen here too.

Illustration of the filming phase: shooting POV footage with an Insta360

Phase03

Filming
  • Batch shoots once or twice a month
  • POV filming (Insta360)
  • No talent, no faces

Eight to ten videos in a day, without stopping the shop floor or production.

The shop floor before opening or when it quietens down, logistics and production between stages. Confidential areas and what stays out of frame get excluded while the shooting plan is drawn.

Illustration of the editing phase: producing captions and thumbnails

Phase04

Editing
  • Swappable scene by scene
  • Exports per site and per platform
  • Wording checks and your review

Built so a note doesn't mean rebuilding the whole video.

It is built so scenes can be swapped individually, so a note only means fixing that cut. For multi-site work, only the site name changes.

Illustration of the analysis phase: reading post data and iterating

Phase05

Posting and analysis
  • A five-working-day test cycle
  • Referrals to the product page, measured
  • Monthly reporting

We identify the videos that grew and extend them into advertising and the shop floor.

We prepare several openings and endings and test over five working days. Monthly reporting leads with arrivals at the product page, purchases and per-site tracking links.

FAQ

Questions we are often asked by retailers, e-commerce and consumer goods makers

We can't get permission to film the factory or warehouse. How do you film the product in use?

We build it from what can be filmed. If the production line is off limits, the setting becomes the shop floor, the packing bench in logistics, or the product arriving at someone's home and being used. What may not be filmed gets listed and agreed at the first meeting.

Our internal approvals are strict and the business unit has to review before anything is published. Can this still run?

It can. We put the proposal and storyboards in front of you before filming and take approval there. The material is designed so scenes can be swapped after editing too, so nothing gets rebuilt from scratch.

How far do you check pharmaceutical and advertising law compliance?

The wording checks cover not only the caption text but the text inside images, the on-screen text, thumbnails, pinned comments and the destination page. Anything borderline gets agreed with your legal and regulatory people in advance.

Isn't TikTok too young for our buyers?

It depends on the product. Where buyers skew older, TikTok sits as the way in and the roles closer to purchase go to Instagram Reels and YouTube. The same material runs across platforms, so no extra filming is needed.

Should we be on TikTok Shop and Instagram shopping?

The capacity to keep putting video out matters more than the listing itself. Listing alone, honestly, doesn't move. Putting the taps through to the product page and the measurement in place first widens what can be counted.

Can we start small and take the numbers to the business internally?

Starting small is what we recommend. Begin with a pilot of one shoot day and two videos, and take the real numbers — save rate, average watch time and taps through to the product page — into the next budget round.
