Issues

Three things that actually get stuck in retail and e-commerce recruitment

Illustration of similar products lining a retail shelf, one of them lost among the rest

01

Buried in a row of terms

The split between the till and restocking, or what a day at the centre is like, can't go in the conditions box of a job posting. People read past it with no reason to choose you.

The fixWe film restocking, the till and picking through the eyes of the person doing it, and split the message by role.

02

Only the listing fees accumulate

Gaps in store, logistics at peak, more hands for e-commerce. The advertising runs constantly, and listing fees don't come back when nobody applies.

The fixWe deliver only in the catchments with vacancies, so it can be judged on cost per application.

03

The application stops behind the search

Someone considering applying checks social media and reviews as well as the company site and the posting. What they see there is the reason they walk away.

The fixWe build a recruitment landing page where people pick from a list of sites, plus LINE, and finish the scheduling inside LINE.

Process

From signing to going live: how it actually runs in retail and e-commerce

Workflow

All you provide is the time to film

Illustration of the discovery phase, sorting through hiring problems and building the persona

Phase01

Discovery and persona work
  • Hiring challenges by role
  • Priority between stores and sites
  • Defining the target

It starts with how many people short, at which site.

We ask about shortages in store, logistics and e-commerce, your recruitment spend and your retention. Why the long-serving staff stayed, inconvenient parts included, gets put into words.

Phase02

Filming
  • Before opening and the back room
  • The centre and dispatch
  • POV, no faces

We film the working day exactly as it is.

Restocking before opening, serving at the till, the back room, picking and packing, all filmed in first person. What appears in frame is agreed before filming.

Phase03

Build
  • Dedicated recruitment landing page
  • Video and banners
  • Official LINE and ad accounts

We build the place applications land in advance.

A dedicated recruitment landing page with video and banners, the LINE application path and the ad account. It all gets prepared at this stage, with the legally required details built in.

Phase04

Launch
  • Delivery confined to the catchment
  • Budget allocation by site
  • Daily monitoring

Once filming finishes, delivery starts in as little as ten working days.

We run the delivery in the first month, narrowing it to the catchments and ages around the sites with vacancies and tracking applications daily.

Phase05

Optimization
  • Improving cost per application
  • Ongoing landing page improvement
  • Tracked through to retention

Budget keeps collecting on the videos that work.

We keep fixing the landing page and the opening seconds, moving budget to the placements with the lowest cost per application. Applications, cost per application and interview rate come monthly.

FAQ

Questions we are often asked by retailers and e-commerce businesses

Roles and hourly rates differ by store. How do you split it?

The manageable version is producing the video by role and splitting only the delivery by site. Advertising targets by area, so it reaches only the catchments with vacancies.

Do recruitment posts on social carry the same rules as job adverts?

The same rules apply. Under the Employment Security Act, six items — the employer's name, address and contact details, the duties, the location and the pay — must appear in the post itself.

Our staff can't appear on camera. Can it still be filmed?

It can, without faces. First person films through the eyes of the person doing the work, so the substance of the job comes through without showing a face, and what appears in frame is agreed before filming.

Can recruitment video be used for marketing posts too?

It can. A single shoot day captures material for both, and that's where we decide whether to split the accounts or split the delivery.

Applications come in and people drop out before the interview.

In our experience, what works is the LINE follow in front of the application form. The first hello, offering interview dates and the day-before reminder all run automatically.

Do you have results or examples in retail and e-commerce recruitment?

We talk through examples and the process from close industries when we meet. For results we can show in numbers, see the recruitment marketing pages for restaurants and salons.
