Why Inbound Marketing

4 benefits of inbound marketing for shopping malls and commercial facilities

  • Illustration of a dotted line from a video on a phone to a crowd in an event plaza, broken partway, with the visitor tally left blank

    Merit 01

    Wordless video

Video shows how to get around the mall

Translating a Japanese floor guide doesn't match the words people search with in other countries. Video walking through the mall shows what is where, without relying on words.

  • Illustration of an official account screen packed edge to edge with sale tags, and a shopping mall building fading in the background

    Merit 02

    Before the trip

Get chosen as a shopping stop before the trip

Inbound visitors decide where to shop on social media before they leave. If your mall's name comes up at that point, they come as a destination, not just because they were passing by.

  • Illustration of phone screens showing official accounts, each with a speech bubble in a different language

    Merit 03

    SNS by country

Show different floors to different countries

What people look for, and which social platforms they use, differ by country. Change the platform and the floors you feature for each country, and the same mall gets many ways in.

  • Illustration of arrows converging on a multilingual booking page, with a measurement needle rising

    Merit 04

    Less worry

Let visitors learn the tax-free steps before they arrive

If they don't know where the tax-free counter is or how it works, inbound visitors buy fewer items. Having seen the steps in their own language beforehand, they keep shopping without hesitation.

Why TripClear

Four reasons shopping malls and commercial facilities choose TripClear for inbound marketing

  • Illustration of three staff members from different backgrounds reviewing a vertical video and story cards at a table, with two speech bubbles and a globe above them

    Reason 01

    A local's eye

Native English and Chinese speakers on staff

Plans start from the words people search with in each country, not a translated floor guide. First-person POV walking through the mall is an option, made multilingual by swapping native translation and subtitles.

  • Illustration of a globe and flight path surrounded by a connected network of creators holding cameras and suitcases

    Reason 02

    20M+combined followers

    Strong in travel

We choose target countries from tax-free usage data and visitors' nationalities, then reach mainland China on RED, Hong Kong and Taiwan on YouTube, and Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, the US and Australia on TikTok.

  • Illustration of a creator's vertical video branching into an ad target and megaphone and an official account feed, overlaid with a rising growth curve

    Reason 03

    Joined-up channels

A full range of marketing solutions

We put tracking tags on floor guides in other languages and the tax-free page first, and also turn the tax-free steps and the route to the counter into video. Reach and tax-free usage by country are reported monthly.

    Services to combine with

  • Illustration of pins on a world map linked to a range of creators holding phones, with a flight path heading to Japan

    Reason 04

    Cast by country

    Overseas creators, too

We cast creators who suit the mall's visitors and the target countries, and accompany them as they shop around the mall. PR disclosure is agreed in the contract under the stealth marketing rules.

FAQ

Questions we are often asked by shopping mall operators

Inbound visitors already come. Is there still a point in posting on social?

There is, because the countries that come and the countries you want are often different. Looking at tax-free usage data, we build separate posting for countries not yet coming and for countries that come but don't shop around much.

We have an English floor guide. Why doesn't anyone look at it?

Because where people look and how they search differ by country. A translated floor guide has no way in, so we rebuild the concepts from the words searched for in each country and create the way in with video.

Tax-free shopping switches to a refund-based system from November 2026. Does what we post change?

It does. Instead of paying the tax-free price in store, visitors get the tax back when they leave Japan. The steps change for them, so we explain the in-mall procedure and how the refund is received, in video and multilingual pages, ahead of time.

Our tenants' staff can't serve customers in foreign languages.

We first build a path that is complete in video and guide pages. How to get round the mall and the tax-free steps are shown in video, and common questions are answered in several languages. It works without foreign-language staff at the counter.

How do you measure the impact?

Before posting, we put measurement tags on the multilingual guide pages. The metrics are set stage by stage: reach by country, saves, guide page visits and tax-free transactions.

Do you have a track record in inbound marketing for shopping malls?

We talk through examples from close industries, and how it would run, when we meet. What social media management for malls involves is set out on the social media management for shopping malls and commercial facilities page.
