Why Inbound Marketing

4 benefits of inbound marketing for rail, bus and transport operators

  • Illustration of an official account screen showing nothing but service updates, with the scenery along the line set small outside it

    Merit 01

    Wordless video

The view from the window needs no translation

Translating Japanese guidance doesn't get you into another country's searches. Show the view from the train window and the streets around the station, and the urge to ride comes through before any words.

  • Illustration of a stream of people flowing out of a smartphone playing a vertical video, with a megaphone and a map pin

    Merit 02

    Before the trip

Get built into the itinerary, route and all

Before leaving, inbound visitors look up how to get to a place along with the place itself. If your line and its views appear at that stage, the ride itself becomes part of the trip.

  • Illustration of phone screens showing official accounts, each with a speech bubble in a different language

    Merit 03

    SNS by country

    Reach countries that travel off-season

If riders come mostly from one country, the cars sit empty once its holidays end. Post on the platforms each country uses, and you can bring in riders from markets that travel at other times.

  • Illustration of a dotted line from a video watched on a phone to an excursion ticket sales page that breaks off, with the sales chart left blank

    Merit 04

    Less worry

    No confusion buying tickets

If they can't figure out how to buy tickets or change trains, inbound visitors choose another way. Watch the steps on video in their language before riding, and they don't get stuck at the station.

Why TripClear

Four reasons rail, bus and transport operators choose TripClear for inbound marketing

  • Illustration of three staff members from different backgrounds reviewing a vertical video and story cards at a table, with two speech bubbles and a globe above them

    Reason 01

    A local's eye

Native English and Chinese speakers on staff

Plans start from the words people search with in each country. Buying tickets and changing trains can also be shot as first-person POV, and with no dialogue, languages are added by swapping native translation and subtitles.

  • Illustration of a globe and flight path surrounded by a connected network of creators holding cameras and suitcases

    Reason 02

    20M+combined followers

    Strong in travel

We choose target countries from riders' nationalities and the markets that travel in your off-season. Mainly RED for mainland China, YouTube for Hong Kong and Taiwan, TikTok for Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, the US and Australia.

  • Illustration of a creator's vertical video branching into an ad target and megaphone and an official account feed, overlaid with a rising growth curve

    Reason 03

    Joined-up channels

A full range of marketing solutions

We set up sales pages in other languages and tracking tags first, and winning videos go into ads. Special ticket sales are counted by country and included in the monthly report.

    Services to combine with

  • Illustration of pins on a world map linked to a range of creators holding phones, with a flight path heading to Japan

    Reason 04

    Cast by country

    Overseas creators, too

We cast creators who suit the destinations along your line and the target countries, and have them actually ride. PR disclosure follows the stealth marketing rules and is spelled out in the contract.

FAQ

Questions we are often asked by rail, bus and transport operators

Inbound visitors already ride with us. Is there still a point in being on social media?

There is, because the sections they ride and the sections you want them to ride are different. Give inbound visitors who only travel between cities a reason to stop off along the way, plus an excursion ticket, and non-commuter revenue is likely to change.

We have an English information page. Why doesn't anyone see it?

Because where people look and how they search differ by country. A translated information page has no way in, so we rebuild the concepts from the words searched for in each country and create the way in with video.

We don't know which countries to target.

We decide by matching your riders' nationalities against the markets that travel in your quiet months. Build up the countries already riding, or add countries that travel when you're quiet. We narrow it down together at the first meeting.

Our stations and depots can't handle enquiries in other languages.

We first build a path that is complete within the video and the sales page. How to buy and how to change trains are shown on video, with FAQs prepared in several languages. It works even without foreign-language staff on the ground.

How do you measure the impact?

Before posting, we put tracking tags on the multilingual sales pages. The metrics are set for each stage: reach by country, saves, sales page arrivals and excursion tickets sold.

Have you done inbound marketing for transport operators before?

We talk through work from close industries and the process when we meet. What social media management for transport operators involves is set out on the Social media management for rail, bus and transport operators page.
