A property is a product nobody can judge without staying in it. From selecting travel creators to attending the shoot and repurposing into ads, there is one point of contact: us.

Issues

For hotels and ryokan, working with influencers: three things that actually get stuck

Illustration of a small inn buried in the search results of a booking site

01

In a place built for comparison, you don't get chosen

In a list of similar properties, all people compare is price and photos. A property with no words from anyone who stayed quietly drops off the shortlist.

The fixWe create the words of someone who stayed, seen through a guest's eyes, as a reason to be chosen outside the list.

02

Weekdays and quiet seasons stay empty

The peak sells out and weekdays and quiet seasons stay empty. Isn't price the only lever you have left?

The fixThe stay happens on a weekday or in the quiet season, and the post keeps what is good about that time of year.

03

The posts never become booking numbers

Publish with no voucher and no booking link and all that remains is views. What the cost of a night turned into stays unknown.

The fixPer-creator vouchers and booking links let us count direct bookings, and posts that grew go into advertising.

Results

Influencer work we have run for accommodation

The social media account of Izura Yukokuinden-ato Onsen

Hotel / Influencer PR

Izura Hot Spring

We cast travel creators and announced the stay packages on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts, running paid campaigns alongside.

Bookings at 433% year on year
Run alongside paid media, with revenue at four to eight times ad spend

Half the outcome is settled the moment you decide who stays.
Which is why we pick on numbers, not taste.

Process

From selection through the stay, the post and measurement: how it actually runs at a hotel or ryokan

Workflow

Shortlisting and negotiation through booking the stay, attending the shoot, reviewing the post and measurement, supported by us throughout

Phase01

Kickoff meeting
  • The dates and rooms you want filled
  • The guests and the catchment you want
  • Defining the conversion point

It starts with which rooms, when, and filled by whom.

The room rate, when occupancy drops, where your guests live and how they travel. We ask about those, then decide what the casting is going after.

Phase02

Casting plan
  • A shortlist based on first-hand data
  • Overlap with where followers live
  • Secondary usage rights, planned in

We choose people who can actually reach the property, on data we have checked.

Average views over the last one to three months, where followers live and their ages, and their record on travel campaigns. We present the candidates who clear that, split into segments. Secondary-use permission is settled at the same time.

Phase03

Stay, filming and posting
  • Stays weighted to quiet seasons and weekdays
  • Attending the shoot and directing
  • Pre-publication review

From the stay to the post, we act as the single point of contact and manage it all.

Stays are weighted to low-occupancy weekdays and quiet seasons. On the day our staff attend and direct the structure on site. The post and the PR disclosure are always reviewed before publication.

Phase04

Measurement after the post, and repurposing into ads
  • Insight collection
  • Reconciled with bookings and stays
  • Turning winners into ads

We confirm the result in numbers, and move what grew to the next placement.

We collect the insights on views, saves and profile visits and report them against voucher redemptions and direct bookings. Posts that grew get lifted into paid placements.

FAQ

Questions we are often asked by hotels and ryokan

Who covers the influencer's accommodation and travel costs?

On a hosted stay, the room, the meals and travel to the property are usually covered by the property. We quote a total combining the cash fee and what is provided in kind.

How many followers should they have, and how many creators should we use?

Follower count isn't how we decide. What we look at is average views over the last one to three months, and where they live. Start with a few, then widen around whatever angle responded.

Is PR disclosure required? What should the property watch for?

Disclosure is required. Under the stealth marketing rules the responsible party is not the poster but the property, as the advertiser. The disclosure, the contract and the compliance checks run alongside the shortlisting.

We're worried about other guests appearing in footage inside the property.

It's something we watch closely too. Where and when filming may happen is agreed before anything starts, our staff attend on the day, and we review the post before publication.

Can the posts be used on Official accounts and in advertising?

Both. Secondary-use permission is built into the plan from the start, so posts that got a good response go straight into partnership ads.

Have you run Influencer PR for accommodation before?

We do. At Izura Yukokuinden-ato Onsen we handled travel creator casting and paid media together, and it produced revenue at four to eight times ad spend and bookings at 433% year on year. In tourism we have also handled casting for local authorities and tourism associations. Our social media results for accommodation are on the Social media management for hotels and ryokan page.
