Issues

Four things that actually get stuck when salons post

Illustration of coupon vouchers and invoices piling up on a reception counter

01

Chosen on the coupon, nothing else

All a listing site lets people compare is price and discount. Neither your skill nor the feel of the salon comes through, and the commission still gets added.

The fixWe show the hands at work and the mood of the salon in first-person video, so people have a reason to choose you other than price.

02

Posting is left to individuals

The more you lean on individual stylists' posts, the less settled the salon's own image becomes. When someone leaves, the material leaves with them.

The fixWe map out the treatments the salon wants seen and turn them into assets that stay when people leave.

03

No one to spare for filming

Put a stylist behind the camera and that hour brings in no treatments. Filming is always what gets pushed back.

The fixOne or two batch shoots a month in weekday downtime. Nobody stops cutting hair.

04

No assistants coming through

Beauty students search the salon's name before they apply. With nothing to find, all they see is what former staff wrote.

The fixOn the same shoot day we film one video from the stylist's side and put it on your recruitment page.

Process

How POV video for salons runs, from concept to delivery

Workflow

Concept and shoot plan, then filming, editing and delivery. All the salon provides is the time to film

Illustration of the planning phase, where the scenes to show and the shooting order are decided

Phase01

Concept and shoot plan
  • Taking stock of the treatments to show
  • Designing the first five seconds
  • Splitting between acquisition and hiring

What gets decided before filming is which moment of which treatment to show.

The signature menu, the shampoo basin, colour application, the finishing blow-dry. We lay out the candidates, and at this stage also set how many videos go to acquisition and how many to hiring.

Phase02

Filming
  • Twelve videos in two hours
  • POV filming (Insta360)
  • No talent, no faces

A way of filming that never stops the stylists' hands.

One camera operator traces the hands at work and the view from the chair. Filming happens in weekday downtime or around opening and closing. The waiting area and client records stay out of frame.

Illustration of the editing phase: producing captions and thumbnails

Phase03

Editing
  • Cuts of one to two seconds
  • Pharmaceutical and advertising law checks
  • The salon's review process

Editing tightens the pace until people watch to the end.

Cuts of 0.8 to 1.8 seconds set the pace, and we deliberately keep the sound of the scissors and the dryer. Any claim about the result is checked against the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act and the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations.

Illustration of the analysis phase: reading post data and iterating

Phase04

Delivery and reuse
  • As little as 7 business days
  • Secondary usage rights
  • Into ads, hiring and bookings

Delivery isn't the end. It's the start of working the one that took off.

Concept to delivery takes as little as seven working days. Secondary use is included, so the video goes straight into paid social, recruitment pages, booking pages and in-salon signage.

FAQ

Questions we are often asked by salons

Can you convey the treatment and the feel of the salon without putting anyone on camera?

It comes through without talent. POV moves the lead role from a person to an experience: the camera traces the stylist's hands and the client's line of sight, so viewers watch it as though they were in that chair. If you do want faces, we plan that separately.

Will clients' faces or belongings end up on camera? How is consent handled?

We build the shoot so they never enter the frame. The standard angles are the hands, the back of the head and reflections in the mirror. We don't film angles that catch the waiting area, lockers, client records or other clients. If staff appear on camera, we agree written consent and a deletion policy at the first meeting.

Weekends are fully booked. How do you schedule the shoot?

We fit shoot days into the gaps in your diary. With one operator tracing the hands at work, two hours is enough for twelve videos. We can also lend you the equipment and have your own staff film, splitting the work between us.

Won't the POV format wear thin?

From everything we have run, sticking to one format is what wears thin. We keep POV as the mainstay and mix in behind-the-scenes, a day in a stylist's life and trend-led ideas, swapping them as the response tells us. Anything that takes off is built to run as an ad too.

How many videos do we need to start with? Have you worked with salons before?

You can start with a single video. For ongoing work there are three plans: five, eight or twelve videos a month. The salon work we have done is on this page.

Can the videos be used on recruitment pages, booking sites and in ads?

All of those. Secondary use is included, so they transfer straight to paid social, booking pages, recruitment pages and in-salon signage. We check how the result is described against pharmaceutical and advertising rules before editing.
